Beginnings
The story of Calvert Holdings began in the early 1970’s with Calvert Laboratories, a company that developed out of one of the first contract research organizations in the pharmaceutical industry. The roots of Calvert Labs began on the basis of individual relationships and a trust that independent contract services could be provided at the same level of quality and expertise as in-house operations.
In order to offer a broader range of services, CEO Russ McLauchlan developed the Holdings, and brought in Carolina Securities, a reputable NASD/SIPC broker/dealer, to give the new Holdings a solid foundation for expansion. Then, in order to bridge the gap between early stage technologies and big pharma acquisition, McLauchlan started Calvert Research, which provides management, resources, and expertise to move early stage technologies toward clinical trials.
Holdings was growing, so an in-house marketing group called Calvert Creative was formed to support the companies that were united by McLauchlan’s vision.
Calvert Holdings continues to look for ways to expand within the life science and pharmaceutical industry.
